Out of the Darkweb, came an experimental Bootleg/Mashup/Remix band called DJ Cracker Jacks (or DJCJ for short). DJCJ was formed in 2019 by Cracker Jacks, Rily N'so and later joined by third founding member SKUL, who were all online buddies. Before releasing any material as DJCJ , they were first known individually. Their first two albums, Squish Mittens (2019) and Here Comes The Beat (2019) were independently recorded. DJ Cracker Jacks then signed to Angel Lobotomy Records and released the album Wired Sound all within a year. Late in 2022, Broonzy and Issei Neb joined the band as the programming engineer and mixing artist respectively, and from that point on would be the most stable lineup the band had. With the exposure after the Haunted House Party series of albums, it led DJCJ to much more popularity and distribution in their music. Not long after, they set out on their UK tour in support of their album, after finishing their first music videos and up until now, they've released over 50 albums, multiple EP’s, and music videos. As of October 2022, they announced they would be getting back together and releasing even more albums in July of the following years. Their plans include keeping the lineup together, and putting even better remixes together.
Disco Death begins with a track named “Twilight Zone”; sounding heavily influenced with a 70's and Disco/Funk twist, but manages to blend them together impeccably. “Devil's Gun” and “Ghost Dancer” both escalate in a boisterous manor as they play on. The intriguing intro opens into a transcendence of Rock, Funk and Halloween feelings all wrapped up into one in “Disco Death”. As the album continues into “Approach and Recede” and “Tubular Bells,” you replace more of the funk with a splash of Rock feel with hints of the Jazz percussion.” "Baby Frankie Stein ” opens with amazing tunes followed with the sounds of classic Rock riffs and an Electronic-like funk beat with a heavy sounding chorus giving way to the mellow sounds of the track “Sexy Dracula.” Following with blasts and a drum beat in “Supernature,” all simmers down at “I Eat Cannibals”; a heavy melodic beginning to end, with never failing bursts of cannibalistic impulses to conclude this musical roller-coaster of an album.
Through the independent struggles of personal loans to finance albums and different labels, they have done it again! After a seven day hiatus the band has not lost a step and give their dedicated fans some great new material to dig into. Get ready for a joyride through the most magical and twisted places that fans can imagine. I give DJ Cracker Jacks’s Disco Death 3.5 out of 5 stars.
